[FAQ] How can I track the folders or subdirectories of a website?

See how you can set up your campaigns to analyze the keyword and traffic data for folders and sub-domains.

If you'd like only to track a subdirectory (or folder) of your website to analyze the organic traffic, a couple of options can do the trick.

The first option is to create a custom segment in the Organic Traffic module. You can filter the organic traffic based on the landing page rule, like in this example, where you will see traffic coming from landing pages containing "/blog/."

Together with this, you can create a smart group in the Rank Tracker with the same rule, to only look at the keywords you're tracking that are triggering landing pages containing "/blog/." The GSC and GA profiles for this campaign can be created based on the domain for its market, pulling all the traffic hitting the main domain. The traffic will then be segmented within SEOmonitor.

Moreover, this group can then be individually analyzed in the "Competition" tab as well, with its specific competitors, so you can see how your competitors are ranking on the same keywords that are triggering your "/blog/" pages.

The second option can be to create different campaigns for each subdirectory or folder with respective locations and track them separately. This can particularly be useful if the subdirectories or folders are for different markets. For instance "domainname.com/us" and "domainname.com/ro" could represent different countries and thus require pulling traffic from different markets. For this, you'd need to have their separate GA and GSC profiles or a filtered GA view and a separate GSC profile, so that localized traffic can be pulled (and later, the data from GA and GSC can be appropriately matched to give you accurate traffic data).

If this is the chosen option, remember that the ranks you will see will still be for the main domain but from different markets and not the folder.

If you have subdomains instead of folders, you can track them as well. Learn more about tracking subdomains and other media here.
