Content Writer

Leverage opportunities identified through Content Audit to create new, AI-powered, SEO-focused, optimized content from within SEOmonitor.

Updated over a week ago

We have integrated the Content Writer into SEOmonitor for the specialized metrics and guidelines to create an outline and then generate an article, closing the gap between the campaign and the top 10 ranking pages.

It identifies the top keywords for a topic (based on the top 10 pages) and assesses, in real-time, whether they are optimally used in the article. The AI-assisted content generator creates the outline, followed by an article based on your prompt.

You can access it from the Content tab, and seamlessly from within the Content Audit categories that recommend creating new content for topics or keywords, such as Keywords with missing pages.

How it works

In the Content tab, you now have a dropdown with Content Audit and Content Writer:

When accessing Content Writer for the first time, you find all the categories from Content Audit that have relevant opportunities to create new content:

Either of the options redirects you to the specific category under Content Audit. From there, you select a specific landing page/keyword opportunity to start creating content. For instance, when exploring the keywords with missing pages in Content Audit, you might decide to write about one of those topics and seamlessly navigate to Content Writer by clicking on the icon next to the name of the topic. This opens a new article in Writer for the topic.

If you already have a few articles in progress, clicking on Content -> Content Writer will lead you to the most recently modified article. From within Content Writer, clicking on the plus sign in the sidebar starts a new article, and the page icon shows the articles you're working on.

Once article creation is initiated, the Writer creates an article outline with a suggested title and headings already optimized for the keywords derived from analyzing the top 10 informational pages for that keyword/opportunity (out of the top 20 ranking pages). In other words, you start with titles and headings that are already optimized for the exact keywords as the top informational pages. Below each heading, you have a list of recommended keywords to use in the article body for a well-optimized article.

Note that you can also manually remove keywords from the article brief – an irreversible action.

In the sidebar, there is a Score that measures the following aspects of the outline against the top informational SERPs:

  • Title: Assesses the inclusion of widely-used keywords in the title

  • Headings: Assesses the inclusion of commonly ranked keywords in the headings of the article

  • Coverage: Measures the coverage of top-ranking keywords in the article's content

  • Wordcount: Compares the length of the articles to the average length of the top informational SERPs (a 50% similarity converts to a full score).

The keywords contributing to the above score and their percentage coverage are also listed in the bottom half of the sidebar.

Once this structure is created, you can see if this is relevant to your strategy and make changes. You can either:

  • regenerate the title or the entire outline using the Regenerate and the Reset Outline options, or

  • make changes in the outline per your preferences, while also aiming to achieve a good optimization Score.

After the outline is ready, click on Generate Article to create an article draft. There is an option to prompt the Writer with a brief to create the article as per your preferred voice, format or structure:

For instance, you can say, " Use simple and formal language, describe the concepts in detail, and leave placeholders for images."

Once you hit Generate, the Writer provides both the outline and the brief to the AI assistant, to generate the draft of the article:

The generated article contributes with the following aspects to the Score:

  • Images: Compares the number of images to the average number of images of the top 10 pages (half of this number converts to a full score).

  • Uniqueness: An optional Plagiarism check by a third-party tool that removes the detected plagiarism percentage. You can run up to 5 Uniqueness tests per article.

The sidebar also gives the keyword search volume, coverage percentages of each top-ranking keyword, and an average Coverage to help you decide how much weight and presence each keyword should get.

Why we built it and its value

Having the Content Writer in SEOmonitor enables you to:

  • take the next steps with your content creation and optimization without the need for external tools,

  • create SEO-optimized content specific to your SEO strategy (tracked keywords),

  • accelerate the article creation process with Writer's AI-assisted articles that reduce the time and effort needed to generate articles from scratch.

In addition to this, the Content Writer:

  • provides and updates a Score in real-time, helping you quickly assess changes and decide whether to keep the changes or continue to iterate,

  • shows the additional sessions this article can bring to the website on the top-right, so you can assess the returns of investing your efforts in the article.
